On Human Rights issues

AD 1ACHPR encourage SADC member state to ratify the Convention on Disappearances and engage other AU organs and bodies to ensure implementation including other regional mechanism.  Regarding persecution of CSOs, journalists, HRDs, SADC states should develop laws for promotion and protection of human rights defenders to operate in conducive environments, that fosters independent operation and without fear. To urgently end crimes against people with albinism and adopt a resolution to foster development of legislative and administrative measures in line with the Regional Action Plan on Albinism in Africa, 2017-2021 for joint address of discrimination, killings and attacks on persons with albinism. Ensure the Government of Malawi investigate the case of Macdonald Masambuka, Goodson Makanjira,Yasin Phiri and other similar pending cases and bring the perpetrators to justice. The government should scale up the protection of key suspects involved in killing and abduction of People with Albinism.

The recommendations and resolutions reached upon will set better platform for African states to comply to the international obligations on protection of Human and Peoples Rights.
