WB 1As part of increasing awareness and capacity in engagement with the World Bank in consultation processes and implementation of new strategies in Malawi, the Center for Human Rights and Rehabilitation(CHRR) organized a two-day workshop which seeked to inform Civil Society Organisations and communities about World Bank’s country engagement process with focus on the Country Partnership Framework (CPF), and build capacity for engagement. The workshop further aimed at identifying common advocacy positions, with a particular focus on energy access, land rights, environment related issues, climate change among others.

Speaking during the workshop, Acting Executive Director, Michael Kaiyatsa, expressed optimism with the outcome of the engagement. “Such an engagement is vital in building and enriching capacity of Civil Society Organisations in improving Malawi’s Country Partnership Framework” he said.

The workshop was organised in preparation for the upcoming engagement of the World Bank in the country. The workshop has been organised with support from the Dutch-based non-for-profit organization, Recourse. The workshop brought together key stakeholders in the Civil Society space and media.
