The Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation, supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation has taken a keen interest to achieve a reduction in the discriminatory practices that violate the human rights of women living with HIV & AIDS and the elderly in the targeted districts of Salima and Lilongwe. The key objectives are to strengthen economic empowerment of women living with HIV and AIDS, to equip communities with current relevant information through capacity building and awareness and to enhance coordination and collaboration with district structures on women living with HIV and AIDS.
CHRR Community Based Educators continue to raise awareness amongst community members on critical human rights issues striving towards protection and promotion of human rights. Despite economic challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, project beneficiaries have managed to conduct various businesses in order to support their families. The inclusion of men in support groups has initiated responsibility amongst men as it has prompted them to get tested and know their status.
