GUSO (Get Up Speak Out)

This programme was implemented by the Malawi Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Alliance comprising CHRR (Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation), YONECO (Youth Net and Counselling), FPAM (Family Planning Association of Malawi), CAVWOC (Centre for Alternatives for Women and Children), CYECE (Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education) and COWLHA (Coalition of Women Living With HIV & AIDS).
The partners, all with their different niches focused on improving the Sexual Reproductive Health Rights(SRHR) of all especially young people whose rights are often violated. The Alliance targeted young people from T/As Mponda, Nankumba, Chimwala and Jalasi in Mangochi and T/As Lundu and Ngabu from Chikwawa.
Among other successes, the GUSO program helped to increase the visibility and sustainability of the Alliance, empower young people to speak for their rights through Meaningful Youth Participation (MYP), increased the utilization of comprehensive SRHR services, information and education as well as providing an enabling an improved legal, socio-cultural and political environment for young people especially at community level.
The program targeted youth in prisons, young LGBTI, married adolescents, girls aged 10-24, young sex workers, teen mothers, young people in hard to reach areas and young people living with HIV (YPLWHIV).
